Alicia & Rap | Sneak Preview

I spent a very cold New Years Day at Newton White Mansion with Alicia & Rap. I must say, this was one of the more fun weddings I've been to in a very long time. The words the two of them shared for their vows were extremely touching. It always makes me feel good to be a part of something you know was meant to be.

They had great family there too and everyone had a good time. The food was great (which always makes me happy) and DJ Spontaneous made sure the music was good too.

I'll be back later with some more images from the wedding, but I've got to make sure they see it all first. Thanks again Alicia & Rap for letting me be a part of your day! Enjoy the honeymoorn!

Kids & Snow

New Year's Wedding

This year, I'll be shooting my first wedding on New Year's Day. It should be interesting because the weather is going to be a little tricky on Friday. They are calling for a little rain / snow, so it could either be just right to make some sweet shots, or it could be a mess. Let's hope for the best!

The wedding will be at Newton White Mansion in Mitchelville, so I know it will be nice. We'll see what happens.

I just wanted to take a minute out of this long day to say Merry Christmas to all those who helped make this a fun and successful year for Anaya Photography. This has certainly been the best year thus far, and we are looking forward to next year being even better!

Rosanna & Matt Wedding

Today I had the pleasure of shooting the wedding of Rosanna & Matt. You may remember them from their engagement session last week.

When we did their engagement session, the weather was beautiful... the most beautiful day of the year so far. Well, today was better than that! It was perfect outside. Warm but not hot, so I was happy about that.

Rosanna & Matt have a wonderful family... lots of love to go around for everyone. They had family in town from literally all over the world, so it was definitely an interesting crowd, but very fun.

The reception was at the Evergreen Mansion Carriage House. The grounds of this house were immaculate. This is a very beautiful location for anyone looking for a site for a wedding. The New Romano's Band played the music all night, and they were awesome as well. A very fun bunch.

I tried some new things with some of the pics from outside, so check them out and let me know what you think. Thanks again to Brian for helping me out with this one.

Cynthia & Matt E-Session

This weekend turned out to be pretty busy. Luckily I was able to spend some time with Cynthia & Matt. I get to shoot their wedding in a couple of weeks. I am really looking forward to it.

We lucked up and got together on one of the nicest days this year. Just the start of many more I'm sure. We got together down by the Inner Harbor over near the Ritz Carlton. Let me tell you... It's a different world over there. I really didn't feel like I was in Baltimore. It was really nice.

Rosanna & Matt E-Session

It's been a long time since I've posted any on the blog, but not for good reason. I've been trying to ramp up and get ready for this wedding season so I can take it up a notch!

For those who have been following, I hope in the coming weeks you will see some new things that you like. For those who are visiting for the first time, hold on because this is going to be a great year.

This spring, I'll be getting started with Rosanna & Matt. We did their E-Session last weekend on one of the most beautiful days this year. Their wedding is this coming Saturday, and it looks like that day will be awesome as well (mid 80's!!!).

I enjoyed working with Rosanna & Matt. They were a fun couple. My partner Brian helped me shoot the session. It's a little difficult to keep up with Rosanna & Matt because they do a lot of traveling, but I'm glad we were able to get these shots. We were downtown Baltimore on the Inner Harbor near the Museum of Industry. Very nice scenery.

The color on this wall turned out great.

These last few shots were some fun ones right down on the Harbor. The folks over at the Downtown Sailing Center were nice enough to let us use their pier (after signing waivers, of course) so we could get a few shots right on the water.

It's always fun to get back out shooting on a beautiful day like this. I am really looking forward to their wedding to see what we come up with. Those images will be up soon, so come back to see them.

This will be a busy stretch during the next two months, so there will be plenty more to see. Until then, enjoy the nice spring weather and don't forget to come back often!

While watching some of my guilty pleasure reality television last year, I got the inspration to try something new for 2009. Joining forces with a close friend and one hell of a makeup artist, Kat, we have launched the MakeUp Bar for '09.

The MakeUp Bar is a great time for ladies to get together and pamper themselves with a day of professional treatment. You get a professional makeover by Kat of Trading Faces, and a professional photo shoot by Anaya Photography. There is also wine, fruit and fun!

I just wanted to take a minute to wish those who do spare me a few minutes out of their life every now and then a very HAPPY, PROSPEROUS and POSITIVE New Year!

I know it's very cliche to say by now, but take advantage of the momentum and make this year a year of CHANGE. We all have things that we can do to make improvements in our life, and it's never too late to do it. We all have things we have been saying we want to do and always find a reason to put it off. Just do it! And it will be done.

We are our own biggest obstacles, and once we get out of our own way, things can happen. So let's take that leap of faith and make some things happen in our lives this year. 2009 will be a very exciting year. It's a challenging time for us all, but if we stay positive and focused on our goals, we will be alright.

I know I have a lot of work to do, personally and professionally, but I know that in 2009 a lot of progress will be made and I am excited at the possibilities. I am looking forward to what's in store because I know that great things are just around the bend.

Be good to yourself and others, and enjoy what 2009 has ahead for you. I wish you nothing but the best.

Thank those of you who made 2008 a very successful year for me, and I thank those in advance who will be a part of making 2009 the most exciting and successful year yet!

Hey everyone,

I've been missing in action for a while. Things have been a little busy between the launch of the new website and taking lots of pics! But I can't complain.

I have to show you some of the pics from the past few months, but I thought I would throw some pics up from Laine & Brett's wedding from this past weekend. They are an awesome couple that I had the pleasure of working with. They were really fun to be around and they truly are made for each other.

Saturday was an interesting day because it was soo cold... it even snowed for a little while, but they were in great spirits still. We even did some shots outside! You can't even tell how cold it was. Laine, Brett and their wedding party were really good sports. I was freezing, so I know the ladies were really cold.

Marcia & Mike 8.8.08

It happened again! Marcia & Mike's wedding proved to be another day that we were able to take part in a fabulous celebration of love! These two are great, and you can tell they were made to be together. They make a beautiful couple.

The wedding was at the Mt. Airy Mansion in Upper Marlboro, Md and the day turned out to be beautiful. For a second, it looked like it might rain (like it did during the rehearsal), but the weather held out and by the time the wedding started, the sun was shining (thankfully).

All of their family was great too. There were people who came in town from everywhere. They invited me to the rehearsal dinner, so I got a chance to meet some of their family and friends. This was a fun crowd to be around and we had a good time. I even made it out on the dancefloor once! But I digress...

Nicole & Milton 7.19.08

You may remember Nicole & Milton from their engagement shoot about a month and a half ago. Their wedding was this weekend and we had a ball! They had a lot of family in from out of town and everyone was ready to have a good time.

I met them almost a year ago, and during the time leading up to the wedding, I've developed a relationship with them that made today very comfortable. It's nice to feel like you are shooting friends.

The two of them are special together. They seem to balance each other out because Nicole is very energetic, and Milton is so calm and cool. It's funny to see them interact with one another, but without a doubt, they are meant to be together. Congratulations Mr. & Mrs. Dunn!

Fashion @ Artscape 2008

Every year in Baltimore, the city sponsors a weekend long festival called Artscape where there are blocks and blocks of food, activities, concerts, clothes... a little bit of everything. I've been in Baltimore for some time now, but I've never actually participated in Artscape.

So when I saw an opportunity to participate in Artscape and mix that with my passion for photography, I thought "why not". I did some shots at the Fashion @ Artscape stage where they showcased fashion designers from Baltimore and abroad. This was exciting for me because I've never done any fashion photography before, so it was a challenge. It turned out to be very exciting for me, and I am looking forward to doing more.

There were beautiful people everywhere, and the clothes were nice too! Some of it was stuff that I would never wear, but it was creative nonetheless, and the models did a good job of making it all look good.

Elana & Joe 06.21.08

Last Saturday I had the pleasure of shooting the wedding of Elana & Joe. This was a beautiful wedding in and around Annapolis, Maryland.

I met Elana & her parents nearly a year ago because they were really on top of their game booking their wedding vendors well in advance. I never got to meet Joe until the wedding day. I was a little embarrassed, but I ended up introducing myself to Joe's brother thinking it was him! I didn't really meet Joe until after the ceremony (smile).

This was a beautiful wedding party and they were so bubbly and full of energy. We were able to capture some great images and have a good time while we were doing it. Everyone had a really good time at the wedding and the reception was a blast. They had a very good live band that kept the crowd moving the entire night.

Here are just a few of the many photos we took that day. I enjoy them even more now looking back on the day. I can't wait to get all the images up for you to see!

Zelda & Donnell

I truly enjoy being able to do something I love doing which is photography. It's always nice to see young couples who are in love with one another and full of excitement about the potential of their new lives together.

Every once in a while, I get to spend time with couples who have realized that potential and persevered through the years to make their marriage work. Last Friday, I was honored to spend time with Zelda and Donnell who were celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary.

They recreated their wedding, including most of the original wedding party! Instead of renewing their vows, they exchanged expressions of love. Within the first five minutes of the evening, they had tears flowing in the crowd because of the words they had for one another. It was beautiful and they showed you that a marriage really can work.

They even practiced a surprise dance to do for the guests. The evening was full of love and fun. Donnell's parents were there as well, celebrating their 50th anniversary. WOW!

Congratulations on your Silver anniversary and I'm looking forward to celebrating 50 years with you!

Nicole & Milton Engagement

It's always an interesting experience when I meet with potential clients because you are never really sure what they think until they say they want to have you shoot their wedding. Nicole and Milton was one of those couples.

I met with them in September and we sat and talked for about two hours. We had a good time together and I thought "Great!!! I'm sure about this one!" Then I didn't hear from them for months and I thought "Oh No. I guess they decided to go with someone else."

I finally got the call from Nicole in December and then I said "Whew... I thought I lost that one. I'm glad she called back." And you can't help but be excited on the phone when you talk to her because she is very upbeat and energetic and it gets contagious.

They are a great couple though, and fun to be around. They vibe really well together and are full of laughs. You can see that in their smiles in these pictures. I can't wait for the wedding next month because I know it will be a good time.

Marcia & Mike Engagement

Hi... So it's been a couple of weeks since I've posted, but it's only because things have been a little busy. I think I've got some things that were worth the wait though.

Here are some pictures from my engagement session with Marcia & Mike. I met Marcia back in December, but this was my first time meeting Mike. The day I met Marcia was a little crazy because the day we met was the first time is snowed for the year here. I wasn't quite sure whether or not I should try to make the trip because she was close to an hour away from me. But I'm glad I did. We had a great talk and we really clicked. I knew then that we would work well together.

I also knew that I was envious of her and Mike :-). When we met, Marcia told me her and Mike had just returned from Dubai in the United Arab Emirates. You see, Dubai was already on top of my list of overseas places to visit. She told me all about it and showed me some pictures and that just made things worse. So if I ever talk about being broke after visiting Dubai, you can thank Marcia & Mike!

I met them down on the National Mall in DC on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. The sun was shining and people were everywhere, but we were able to steal some space and get some very nice shots. Marcia wanted to get a taste of DC in the pictures and I think we did a good job of getting it.

We had some trouble getting that bench shot. They kept laughing when they were supposed to be kissing. Then they finally got it when someone was walking in between us so we had to start from scratch again (smile).

Jennifer & Brian 05.17.08

I met Jennifer and her mother in April to discuss shooting Jennifer's wedding. Jennifer is a very sweet and genuine person and I immediately felt as though this would be a very nice wedding to shoot. My feelings were right!

Jennifer and Brian had all kids in their wedding party. That was the cutest thing. It's funny watching the kids try to stand still during the ceremony because they always start playing with their flowers, looking around or something. Their daughter was right there in between them during the ceremony. She just wanted to be next to her Dad. Things like that always make for great images.

The day turned out great for them too. We've been getting a lot of rain lately, but the day cleared up perfectly. It was a great day for a wedding by the water. Take a look at the slideshow I put together of their wedding.

I truly thank Jennifer and Brian for allowing me to be a part of their day. Congratulations and best wishes.

The coolest part of the day was them sailing off on the boat after the ceremony. This was a great boat. One day, I'll have my own!

Tenille & Gary

Once again, I was working with Corey at Creative Photo Expressions on the wedding of Tenille & Gary. The wedding was supposed to be outdoors, but it has been raining like crazy here in Maryland, so they had to move it inside. Although it had to be moved inside, the event planners did a great job of adapting and making the inside wedding just as nice.

This was a busy day for the couple. The wedding was on Friday, and along with getting everything ready for the wedding, they were leaving that night right after the reception to head to Punta Cana for their honeymoon. That's a lot to deal with all in one day, but I'm sure they will get to do lots of relaxing on the beach!

Have a look at some of the pictures. I have to say, I was really excited when I walked into the room where the ceremony was. This was the first time I had the opportunity to shoot a wedding with a live harp player. The harp is such a romantic instrument. I loved taking pictures of it. Thanks!

LaShawnda & Blaylon

Hi all. It's been a couple of weeks since I've posted anything, but it's been pretty busy around here. We've been shooting some back to back dates, so things get pretty hectic quickly.

That said, here is another wonderful couple I had the opportunity to shoot a little over a week ago. LaShawnda and Blaylon. There are a great couple. A very spiritual couple. And you could really tell that Blaylon adores his new wife.

They had a beautiful day for their wedding. It rained like crazy the days leading up to their wedding, but that day turned out great. Very sunny and clear outside (although the grass was still very wet). We tried to do some of the formals outside in a nice park, but our shoes got the blues for it.

Every wedding I shoot is a great experience for me. Both a learning experience to better my photography, and a learning experience in love. Each couple shares something special and unique and helps me to appreciate the people in my life even more. Love is truly inspiring.

Dametria & Maurice

I had the pleasure of running second camera on a wonderful wedding last Thursday. The couple was Dametria & Maurice, and they were truly in love.

Weddings like this are why I love to shoot. They had the most touching things to say about one another during the ceremony and they truly meant it.

The wedding was at the Newton White Mansion in Mitchelville, Md. This was my first time shooting there. I've heard great things about it, and the talk was well deserved. The place is beautiful, and provided some very nice scenery for the photos.

Michelle & Quadre

Hey everyone... I've been away for a minute, but working hard.

Here is another couple that I will be shooting later this year, Michelle & Quadre. This was a very fun shoot. I've actually known Quadre for some time because we went to school (Morgan!!) together, but I just recently met Michelle. They are an awesome couple. They definitely fit the title "Power Couple". They are doing some great things in the community. It will definitely be my pleasure to shoot their wedding in September. This is another wedding Sabrina @ Bri-Ann's Creations will be working on.

But back to the pictures... This was a great shoot. We did it at the Cylburn Arboretum in Baltimore. This place has great scenery. They actually did some footage for their wedding video on the same day. They had some beautiful things to say about each other. It feels good to work with couples that are meant to be together.

Zamantha & Marlon

Saturday, I had the pleasure of working with Corey from Creative Photo Expressions on one of his weddings. The bride and groom were Zamantha & Marlon.

They were a great couple. Marlon told me they had been friends for some time now. They actually fell out of touch for a while, but when they met up again, he knew that he should marry his friend. They look wonderful together. We did the wedding in Chevy Chase. The weather turned out perfect. We couldn't ask for a better day.

Ok. I've been gone for a minute working on a lot of new things for this year. We are going to be doing some exciting things.

First for this year is the new website launch! It just a matter of time now. We are a couple of days from it becoming reality. I've seen a few samples and it looks great!

Keshia & Brian

Keshia & Brian was my first engagement shoot of the year. I will be shooting their wedding in September. We did the shoot in downtown Baltimore at a couple of different locations. This was a night shoot, so we were able to try some different things with the shots. My buddy Corey from Creative Photo Expressions helped me out on this shoot.

Keshia & Brian look great in these photos. You can't even tell that it was freezing outside. It was about 3 weeks ago, and it was about 30 degrees outside. But they played it cool, so their pictures came out really nice. You can tell they are in love and having fun. This should be a fun wedding to shoot.

Sabrina over at Bri-Ann's Creations is coordinating this wedding. She is so energetic and wild. She's a busy woman, but she can put on a very nice event. I've worked with her many times before. She's definitely worth the investment in her services though, because she does so much work for her clients.

Auto Show

So last weekend I took the family to the Auto Show here in Baltimore. It was a pretty decent show. There were plenty of cars there. I usually just go to see some of the cars I'll never be able to afford, or rather, never would want to afford. Some of these cars I would never want to drive on the street, because if something happened to them, I would be terribly upset.

Nevertheless, we had a good time. I let my son take most of the pictures there, but for some reason, some of his pictures were of car bumpers and tags. Go figure. He's excited about taking pictures though, so I see a camera in his future.

Here are a couple of my favorites.

And let's not forget "Bumble Bee" from the Transformers.

We had a really nice time. We'll definitely have to do this again.

Well folks... It's finally started. Anaya Photography has started a new blog for 2008! I am looking forward to an exciting year. This is the beginning of a new look, and some new surprises planned for '08.
